چکیده

As-produced Cr-coated Optimized ZIRLO™ cladding material fabricated with the cold-spray (CS) deposition process is studied. Cross-sectional electron microscopy, nano-hardness profiling, transmission Kikuchi diffraction, and atom probe tomography (APT) were performed to investigate nature of CS Cr-coating/Optimized interface, microstructure coating, effects on Zr-substrate microstructure. The former surface was found have a highly deformed nano-crystalline microstructure, formation which attributed dynamic recrystallization occurring during coating deposition. This microstructural change, evaluated backscattered diffraction appeared be confined depth few microns. Through APT analysis, 10–20 nm thick intermixed bonding region observed at interface between substrate. chemical composition this suggests that layer originated from localized shearing heating thin volume outermost study region's crystalline structure high resolution microscopy revealed distorted hexagonal close-packed structure.

Corrosion of Cold Spray Deposited Copper Coating on Steel Substrates

The corrosion behavior of copper cold spray coatings on a carbon steel substrate was compared to that of commercially available wrought copper under the conditions anticipated in a nuclear waste repository. Corrosion potential and linear polarization resistance measurements were conducted over 90 d to 120 d in 3.0 mol/L NaCl under anoxic (1) and oxygenated-toanoxic (2) conditions to simulate th...

Transmission electron microscopy of cold sprayed 1100 aluminum coating

Cold-spraying of 1100 Al powder particles onto 1100 Al substrate was accomplished using carrier gases 100 vol.% He and a mixture of He–20 vol.% N2. TEM characterization correlates very well the occurrence of dislocations, presence of oxide, and surface instability phenomenon with observed mechanical and corrosion properties of the cold-sprayed coating. 2005 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Els...

Effect of carrier gases on microstructural and electrochemical behavior of cold-sprayed 1100 aluminum coating

1100 Aluminum has been cold sprayed onto similar substrate using 100 vol.% He and mixture of He–20 vol.% N2 as carrier gases. Analysis and characterization of sprayed depositions under different processing conditions was performed through optical micrography, stereological analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and microhardness depth profiles. Surface Wear Characterization Of Thermally Sprayed Coating Of Al2O3-13TiO2 on M.S Substrate

Wear of the surface is the major problem of all materials. This wear can be of many types and there can be several methods of reducing wear. Coating on the surface of material is one of them. On M.S substrate, thermal spray coating is done using Detonation spray gun and coating powders used is a mixture of oxides (Al2O3-13TiO2). The thermal-sprayed coatings are characterized by SEM, EDS analyse...

Sliding-induced Microstructure of Cold-Sprayed Copper Coating Observed by Electron Channeling Contrast Imaging

Cold gas dynamic spray is a coating process for fabrication of materials that are sensitive to heat and oxidation such as copper [1]. In cold spray, the particles are accelerated to supersonic velocities typically between 500 1200 m/s [1]. Upon high speed impact, the cold sprayed particles undergo extensive plastic deformation at very high strain-rates (up to 10 9 s -1 near impact interfaces), ...
